Abstract

Originally, Finfinnee is the home of Maccaa and Tulama Oromoo. However, in the course of Addis Ababa establishment by Menelik II as a permanent seat for the king, tens of thousands of Oromo clans such as Gullallee, Galaan and Ekkaa to name few were massively uprooted from their homeland [Finfinnee]; and moved to South and West. The exodus of the Oromoos from Finfinnee has never stopped since then leaving injustice without rectification. Save genuineness of the talk; reconciliation of Ethiopian people is almost headline of all Ethiopian media outlets. Authentic reconciliation presupposes rectification of historical wrongs done to the indigenous Oromo to the land prior its establishment which is the objective of the paper. The article is based on the review of literature and interview with key informants like Abbaa Gadaas. The methodology therefore is the qualitative one. Accordingly, relevant literatures with regard to Finfinnee, protection of indigenous people/societies and many other relevant literatures were assessed. The finding claims, exodus of the Oromoos from Finfinnee resulted in dominance of settlers over indigenous people to the land [Finfinnee] making the Oromoos minority in the region. Reversing the direction of Oromo exodus from Finfinnee to Finfinnee could possibly redeem historical injustice done to indigenous Oromo clans who established their living on Finfinnee. Government of Oromia National Regional State and Addis Ababa city as well as federal government need to work on re-establishing and protecting historically affected indigenous Oromoos particularly Maccaa and Tulama Oromoos by Addis Ababa establishment as well as its expansions which must be halted.

Keywords: Finfinnee, injustice, the oromo, oromo exodus, reversing exodus direction
