A Study on Work Stress Management among Employees in a Spinning Mill in Kerala

Abstract
This article focuses on the topic “a study on work stress management among the employees in a spinning mill in Kerala”. The objectives of the study were to find the stress level of employees in the co-operative industries, the causes for stress, impact of stress on productivity of the employees and how to handle stress generated at the workplace. The hypothesis was set to find and understand the relationship between stress and various other factors such as age, gender, organizational policies etc.
Primary data was collected by means of a structured questionnaire and secondary data was collected by means past research papers, journals etc. Simple data analysis techniques like ANOVA, correlation and chi-square are used for analysing and interpreting the data pertaining to different dimensions of employees. Simple statistical data like percentage was analysed and the results are illustrated by means of diagrams. It was found that majority of the people in this organization experienced high level of stress, job insecurity and work pressure were some of the root causes of stress, stress effects the productivity of employees and majority of the employee’s handle stress with the support of the family. Few recommendations like introduction of stress buster programs, increasing the retirement benefits, improving the labor f acilities and introduction of counselling and grievance handing facilities were suggested after careful analysis.
